Pity the poor little fish – a feeding frenzy of Pelicans and Cormorants in the Swan River
Australian Pelicans, Little Black and Little Pied Cormorants often fish together in the Swan River, the estuary on which Perth, the capital of Western Australia is situated. This feeding frenzy happened on an extremely windy afternoon in the estuary, just off Niergarup Reserve in East Fremantle. The birds were catching small fish that they had herded into the shallows with Silver Gulls and Crested Terns trying to steal a share.
