A leopard and a cat were rescued after both the animals fell down into a well in Ashapur, Maharashtra.

Footage from February 14 shows the wild animal alongside the stray cat at the bottom of the watery pit.

According to the filmer, the stray cat attempted to climb on the leopard to escape the well but was unsuccessful.

A farmer spotted the two trapped animals and alerted the local police and the local forest department.

The cat was rescued after a basket was lowered down and the leopard was pulled out of the well via a large cage.

The leopard was taken to Mohdari Malegaon forest park and will be released back into the wild after a few medical tests.
