Chiang Mai in Thailand reaches number one for world's worst air pollution

Thailand's northern province of Chiang Mai has been experiencing poor air quality all this year. Today air quality reached hazardous levels ,the world's worst. Over a 24 hour period the PM 2.5 levels averaged 180microgrammes per cubic metre of air.(Bangkok Post/IQAir). Closely behind were Mumbai, Lahore and Hanoi.
Northern Thailand's pollution is blamed on agricultural and forest burning, mostly deliberate. Neighbouring countries have similar problems.
