A driver miraculously escaped a container truck after it plunged into a sea in southern China.

Dramatic video filmed in the city of Shenzhen in Guangdong Province on May 9 shows a shipping container truck taking a sharp turn and plummeting into the sea at Yantian International Container Terminal.

Another clip shows the driver quickly scrambling out of the vehicle's window to safety as rescue crews arrived on the scene to retrieve the submerged truck.

According to officials, the incident was a rare occurrence, with the container truck being the first to ever flip into the sea at the terminal.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the terminal's security team.
