Russia has claimed to have used T-80 tanks to destroy a Ukrainian command post on the front lines.

The footage purports to show a Russian tank maneuvering into position before it can be seen opening fire, with the images cutting to explosions, reportedly on Ukrainian positions.

The Russian tank can then be seen maneuvering away to avoid return fire as the footage ends.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defense on Thursday, September 21, along with a statement claiming: 'The crews of T-80 tanks in the Western Military District (WMD) have destroyed an enemy command post in the area of a special military operation.

'Tank crews from the Western Military District continue to provide fire support to motorized infantry units, facilitating the advance of Russian forces.

'Fire is adjusted using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and their cameras record hits.

'Tank crews widely practice firing from concealed firing positions. Tanks successfully engage targets at considerable distances and out of direct line of sight. Using coordinates obtained from UAVs, T-80 tank crews eliminate artillery and combat armored vehicles, including foreign-made ones, observation posts, and Ukrainian Armed Forces ammunition depots.'

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
