Russia has claimed that it has destroyed Ukrainian fortified areas near Liman using self-propelled howitzers.

The footage appears to show Russian soldiers operating self-propelled howitzers and repeatedly opening fire on unseen targets from forested areas.

The video then cuts to what appears to be video filmed by drones purporting to show the Ukrainian positions being hit.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence on Tuesday, September 12, along with a statement claiming: 'The crews of the 'Msta-S' self-propelled howitzers of the motorised infantry division of the Central Military District (CMD) continue to strike at fortified areas and enemy personnel concentrations in the Krasnolimanskoe direction.

'The servicemen of the 'Msta-S' self-propelled artillery units of the motorised infantry division of the Central Military District have destroyed a field depot with ammunition and combat vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) in the Krasnolimanskoe direction.

'During their combat operations, the artillery crews, in coordination with the reconnaissance units of unmanned aerial vehicles, successfully targeted and struck an ammunition depot concealed in a forested area, as well as armoured vehicles providing support to the enemy infantry. The firing was conducted from concealed firing positions.

'The artillery crews of the 'Msta-S' units in the 'Centre' group carry out daily fire missions to eliminate various targets and also engage in counter-battery combat against enemy artillery.'

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
