Baby elephant tries to spook safari tour group with tiny trumpeting charge
An adorable video showed when a baby elephant tried to scare off a safari vehicle in South Africa.
The baby, filmed on May 19th, marched up to the front of the vehicle making soft trumpeting noises while waving its trunk around. After a few unsuccessful calls it turned away and rejoined its herd.
The filmer commented: "I was leading a safari when we came across a small herd of elephants standing next to the road which was very narrow. I decided to stop rather and not attempt to pass the herd so closely.
"Suddenly one of the baby elephants came into the road with a trumpeting noise. The baby elephant looked focused on us and the next moment it was charging towards the vehicle while making a trumpeting noise. This is one of those experiences where if it was a big bull elephant, we would have had some serious problems.
"In this case luckily it was a young elephant, already wanting to show it is in charge way before its time and size, making me a bit calmer about the situation. The baby elephant came mock charging towards the vehicle one more time with a last trumpeting sound before turning around, realizing the safari vehicle was still too big to push around or intimidate."
