Lifeboat crew rescued a female paddleboarder blown over a mile out to sea in Poole, Dorset.

Poole RNLI were notified of the distressed surfer who was swept by waves around 1.5 miles off Middle Beach, Studland, on July 16.

Footage shows rescuers pulling the woman and her paddleboard onto the lifeboat amid 'blustery conditions'. Winds were blowing at force 5 to 6, the RNLI said.

In a statement, the crew said: 'The lifeboat came alongside the casualty and checked that they were okay, they transferred the casualty into the lifeboat. The volunteer crew continued assessing the casualty, who was okay but very cold. The crew also recovered the paddleboard and returned to Middle Beach.

'The lifeboat landed the casualty ashore and passed her to the care of Swanage coastguard, as all was well, the lifeboat returned to station, refuelled, and was ready for service by 9 pm.'
