This is the moment an injured dog walker stranded on a beach was rescued by a lifeboat team in East Lothian, Scotland.

The distressed tourist was on holiday visiting the Scottish Golf Open but was injured while walking their pet dog along the Broad Sands beach in North Berwick on July 17.

North Berwick RNLI crew were called to the scene and found the dog owner, who was pulled up the shore by locals as the tides were coming in, unable to move due to an 'excruciating' leg injury.

The dog walker was transported to a hospital via the Scottish Charity Air Ambulance.

Rhona Meikle, Helm of North Berwick's RNLI Lifeboat said: ‘This call out shows our ability to work together with other emergency services, in order to get the casualty safely to hospital.

‘Although not that remote, Broad Sands can feel a world away from safety when you can't move due to pain. We wish the casualty all the best with their recovery.

‘This incident highlights that in any coastal emergency, you should call 999 and ask for the Coastguard who can dispatch lifeboats, shore teams and helicopters to evacuate casualties from difficult locations.'
