A firefighter saved a stranded kitten from floodwaters in northern China.

Heroic video filmed in Zhuozhou City in Hebei Province on August 4, shows a firefighter paddling a rubber boat to approach a helpless cat trapped on a tree trunk in flash floods.

Once close enough, the rescuer reaches out and gently lifts the kitten into the safety of the rubber boat. There, the once panic-stricken animal is transformed, sitting obediently as it looks out over the water, the palpable tension replaced by a calm curiosity.

The touching footage continues with the rescuer tenderly stroking and comforting the cat, a soothing presence in the aftermath of its harrowing ordeal.
