A raging monsoon storm pummeled a shopping mall in Bangkok, Thailand.

A heavy downpour struck the EmQuartier shopping centre in the capital city on August 31 evening. Rain was also seen cascading onto the tracks of a nearby railway station.

The Thai Meteorological Department said severe rain was expected to fall in Bangkok and 44 provinces in the country due to a strong monsoon trough passing through the northern, central, and northeastern regions.

The southwest monsoon was also prevailing across the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
