Astonished tourists witness unprecedented fish leap on beach in China
Fish were discovered darting through the shallow waters near the shore, then leaping onto the beach and even the floating bridge, creating an unexpected attraction with bystanders gathering in numbers in southern China.
The mysterious video was filed in Shantou City in Guangdong Province on September 21.
Witness Ms Huang said that the fish jumping ashore seemed to be mullets and flatheads, amongst others that she couldn’t name. “Seeing this, I really wanted to grab a bucket and catch some,” she expressed with a hint of amusement.
As for the reasons behind this anomalous activity, she, along with many others, remained perplexed.
On September 22, staff from the Nanao County Tourist Center claimed that the phenomenon likely arose due to natural causes, dismissing previous encounters of such occurrences. The notion that human intervention led to this bizarre exhibition was quickly dismissed, emphasising the challenge to intervene or control such circumstances.
Meteorological staff of Nanao County clarified that the fish leap on Qianjiangwan Beach had probably nothing to do with the weather. Despite the higher temperatures recorded in the past week, there have been no anomalies, they supplemented.
The Shantou City Seismological Bureau also dismissed any correlations between the phenomenon and seismic activity, asserting that after expert analysis from the provincial seismological bureau, all seismic activities and geophysical observations are within normal ranges.
Currently, relevant departments are conducting further follow-ups and investigations into this mysterious and mesmerising incident.
