This is the terrifying moment a raging storm battered a family's backyard in Thailand.

CCTV footage shows how the violent monsoon downpour lashed resident Warisara Munsathien's home in Samut Sakhon province on September 20.

Powerful gales whipped through the yard and garage, nearly snapping trees in half and blowing down a large sapodilla tree into the family's swimming pool.

Warisara said: 'The storm hit Samut Sakhon at around 4 pm. It was extremely stong that the winds felled the sapodilla tree in the backyard. Luckily, the kids are safe.'

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
