A rare community-minded pedestrian was seen helping stranded students and office workers cross a flooded road.

Footage shows the middle-aged man laying bricks on the puddle so that the commuters could have something to step into outside the Ploen Chit BTS train station in Bangkok, Thailand, on September 25.

He would fix the blocks when they became wobbly, dipping her hand and feet - one of them a prosthetic leg - into dirty floodwater so everyone could reach the pedestrian lane safely.

Student intern Isriya Rattanapoom, who saw the unidentified man, said that while everyone looked after themselves, the Good Samaritan worked for the comfort of everyone.

She said: ‘I am an intern at one of the offices around Ploenchit. During the daytime, it rained heavily, so we were stuck outside when it was time to go home because of the flood.

‘That day, I saw the man laying the stones for people who wanted to cross to get to the train. There were many people in line. He was the only one who did something so people could cross over.

‘We were very grateful for him. He would even lend his hand to assist us and not fall. His prosthetic leg did not become a hindrance for him to walk out there and help.'

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
