A motorist who attempted to pass through a flooded road in Yorkshire, became stranded as their vehicle began to float this morning (February 7).

The incident happened on Barnsdale Road between Allerton Bywater and Castleford in West Yorkshire and is the second time the road has flooded in two weeks. The male driver and female passenger eventually climbed onto the roof of their vehicle, as the inside took on water.

A passerby in a Land Rover saw the incident and picked up the passengers, who then took them to safety of dry land.

Barnsdale Road is well known for flooding, due to the close proximity of the River Aire.
