A man leapt onto a ride-hailing car’s hood to retrieve his girlfriend's lost phone in southern China.

The video was filmed in the city of Xiamen in Fujian Province on December 10.

A woman lost her phone in a ride-hailing car. Desperate to retrieve it, her boyfriend took matters into his own hands, leaping onto the car hood to confront the driver.

The woman argued with the driver while searching for her phone and her boyfriend labeled the driver a "thief" and demanded the return of the missing device.

According to Mr Chen, a witness, the couple had lost the phone during their ride and traced it to another ride-hailing car, coincidentally their own.

The woman, distressed and in tears, explained that her phone, containing crucial data and her deceased father's photos, was left in the previous ride. Despite offering compensation, the driver denied having seen the phone.

The couple attempted to locate the driver through the ride-hailing platform but faced obstacles from customer service. The driver continued taking new orders, making it challenging to pinpoint his location. Frustrated, they reported the incident to the local police but struggled to obtain the driver's contact information.

Chen described the pursuit as complex, involving two hours of tracking via GPS. Finally, seizing an opportunity during a red light, the boyfriend jumped onto the car hood to prevent the ride-hailing car from leaving.

The crowd grew, and the boyfriend called the police. Only then did the driver retrieve the woman's phone from the trunk and return it.

On the afternoon of December 12th, a staff member from the Xiang'an Police Station confirmed police involvement, stating that the situation had been resolved, and the driver had returned the phone.
