A seemingly hygiene-conscious chimpanzee named Yuhui was spotted squatting beside a water hole, diligently washing clothes and hands with soap in southern China.

The video was filmed in Chongqing City on December 6.

This exceptional chimpanzee, born in 2001 and known as Yuhui, has spent the last 22 years of its life residing in the zoo.

According to a zookeeper, Yuhui began mimicking the actions of the zookeeper when he was just 8 years old. Over time, he perfected these actions, becoming adept at imitating them with precision. For instance, if you place a bar of soap by the water pool, Yuhui will meticulously rub his hands together, demonstrating a seriousness and standard comparable to those of professional medical practitioners.

Yuhui has been making waves on Chinese social media with his impressive dish-washing ability in April this year.

Yuhui has a particular fondness for washing clothes, spending up to half an hour cleaning a single piece of clothing. After completing the task, he even takes a moment to sniff the garment, checking for any lingering odours.

Yuhui has earned the title of "model worker" in the animal kingdom.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
