The tranquil streams turned into raging torrents as relentless downpours pounded the region in southern China.

Video filmed in Shaoguan City in Guangdong Province on April 21, shows the once gentle brooks transforming into an overwhelming deluge, shrouding the landscape in a veil of chaos.

From April 18th to 20th, Shaoguan City endured a barrage of severe weather, with unprecedented rainfall wreaking havoc across the area.

By 8:00 a.m. on April 20th, the cumulative rainfall for April in Shaoguan City soared to a staggering 463.1 millimetres, marking a whopping 2.5 times the average rainfall for this time of year (129.9 millimetres), smashing historical records for April precipitation in the region.
