A quick-thinking man stopped a runaway truck from crashing into a house in central China.

CCTV footage filmed in Xianning City in Hubei Province on April 22, shows a driverless truck loaded with goods rolling out of control and smashing into a residential house.

A woman, engrossed in her phone beside the house, narrowly escaped injury by leaping to safety. The runaway vehicle, propelled by its momentum, climbed up a slope in front of the house before the front of the truck crashed through the home's main entrance.

The truck then began to roll backward down the slope. In a heroic act, a man holding a baby dashed into the cabin and pulled the handbrake, bringing the truck to a standstill.

It emerged that the truck driver had parked the vehicle outside his home to quickly grab dinner, forgetting to engage the handbrake.

The accident resulted in the damage to the house's main gate, but fortunately, no one was injured. Compensation for the damages has been agreed upon by the truck driver.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
