An awe-inspiring 25-metre-long dragon sculpture has been intricately carved on a frozen river surface in northern China.

The impressive video was filmed in the city of Tonghua in Jilin Province on January 25.

Remarkably, the artist behind this majestic sculpture is not a professional ice sculptor, but rather Mr. Gao, a humble ginseng farmer whose foray into ice carving is purely a labour of love.

Gao revealed that his day job involves cultivating and selling ginseng, a stark contrast to the artistic prowess he displayed in his ice sculpture.

The ice dragon, a project that spanned approximately three to four days, entailing about 16 hours of meticulous carving, is situated in the serene setting of the Jiguan Mountain National Forest Park.

Gao modestly admitted that he had not anticipated the widespread attention his creation would garner. His inspiration stemmed from observing others engage in the art and finding it immensely enjoyable.

With the Year of the Dragon on the horizon, Gao also expressed his hope that his ice dragon would bring good fortune to all who witnessed its splendour.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
