Animal rescuers crawled through a narrow concrete tunnel to save two stray puppies stuck inside.

The volunteers on January 27 responded to the scene in a village in Chonburi, Thailand, where residents had been hearing the puppies crying inside a small sewer tunnel for several days.

They opened the broken manhole cover and discovered the pooches - one male and one female - trapped inside.

Footage shows the rescuers crawling through the cramped space to grab the mutts. Despite difficulties moving around, the team easily caught the puppies as they were hungry and exhausted.

The strays were reunited with their mum, which was waiting nearby during the rescue.

The officers said the manhole cover had been damaged, and the puppies had fallen through the metal grates while wandering in the grass.

The cover has been replaced following the incident.
