New opportunities in EV industry

STANDUP 1 (English): SUNNY ZHOU, Xinhua correspondent
"Revving up with the increasing popularity of electric vehicles both home and abroad, I'm on my way to an EV player headquartered in Beijing.
With Sunny's Spotlight, today we'll delve into how the burgeoning EV industry could unlock diverse opportunities.
And here we are!"

STANDUP 2 (English): SUNNY ZHOU, Xinhua correspondent
"We are at the EV division of China's automotive giant, BAIC Group.
Arcfox is a premium electric vehicle brand owned by BAIC BluePark."

In 2023, the BAIC BluePark sold some 92,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs), a robust year-on-year growth of 84 percent.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): ZHANG GUOFU, Executive VP, BAIC BluePark New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.
"BAIC BluePark ranks very high in the industry in terms of technological innovation and environmental sustainability, including energy conservation and emission reduction. There is a broad market overseas. Last year, we conducted negotiations with more than 130 clients from 46 countries. In 2024, we hope we'll further expand our service networks and sales channels."

China is the world's largest NEV producer and market.

According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), exports of China's NEVs soared 77.6 percent to more than 1.2 million units in the past year.

In 2023, sales of NEVs exceeded 9.49 million units, surging 37.9 percent year on year. Their market share stood at 31.6 percent.

The fast growth of NEV sales has been supported by the sound supply chains and industrial ecosystem.

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): ZHANG GUOFU, Executive VP, BAIC BluePark New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.
"Developing a car involves a complex and lengthy industry chain, not just about creating a single vehicle. It requires synchronized and integrated efforts along the industrial chain.
I believe that new energy vehicles contribute to the enhancement of the auto industrial chain and auto technologies. Especially in terms of electric vehicles and smart driving, I think they have a revolutionary or iterative impact.
China was quite early in the development of new energy vehicles, and now stands at a comparatively advanced stage in the maturity of its NEV products."

STANDUP 3 (English): SUNNY ZHOU, Xinhua correspondent
"The global reach of China's electric vehicles extends beyond mere trade ties.
With a strategic focus on cross-border collaboration, localization, tech innovation, and green transformation, it opens a door to many possibilities."

SOUNDBITE 3 (Chinese): XU HAIDONG, Deputy chief engineer, China Association of Automobile Manufacturers
"For China's electric vehicle industry, 2023 is seen as a milestone year. Electric vehicles represent a direction towards sustainable development. Chinese electric vehicle brands have gained global recognition. It may be expected that this will drive the development of local new energy vehicles, contributing to the overall transition to green development in those markets. Additionally, it will also make such contributions as generating tax revenues and creating jobs.
Currently, we are quite confident about the development of Chinese electric vehicles overseas. We believe that in the future, it will continue to maintain a rapid pace of development."
