A boy narrowly escaped two flying manhole covers after the firework sparks triggered a methane explosion in southern China.

Terrifying CCTV footage filmed in Yin City in Sichuan Province on February 24 shows a boy setting off fireworks at a roadside inadvertently causing the sparks to fall into two sewer manhole, igniting methane gas and triggering an explosion.

Two manhole covers were blasted into the air, sending the boy scrambling for safety.

Fortunately, the boy's slightly slower pace saved him by mere inches as one manhole cover landed directly in his path, tripping him up. The other manhole cover landed beside the sewer opening, narrowly avoiding pedestrians.
