STORYLINE:
Some international experts have hailed China's focus on sci-tech innovation and development, saying the country's technology-oriented development stimulates economic growth globally.
SOUNDBITE 1 (English): BENJAMIN MGANA, Chief editor of Foreign News of The Guardian, Tanzania
"China's focus on scientific and technological innovation and development significantly impacts the world economy by fostering technological advancements, driving productivity gains, and facilitating global competitiveness. This emphasis stimulates cross-border collaborations, fosters knowledge exchange, and fuels economic growth globally."
SOUNDBITE 2 (Spanish): RENZO BUROTTO, Historian at the University of Chile
"The character of China's economy is changing greatly. It is now becoming more technology-oriented. And I think China has a good starting point, which is the infrastructure. After all these years, it has built the infrastructure for development, for assembly of technology. That gives China a very good advantage that practically no other country has a similar magnitude."
SOUNDBITE 3 (English): HUMPHREY MOSHI, Director of Center for Chinese Studies at the University of Dar es Salaam of Tanzania
"China in the recent past has invested a lot in terms of research and development to the extent that it's leading in a number of areas. One, the issue of high-speed rail, the issue of electric vehicles, just to mention a few. Given the platforms between China and other countries, for example, the cooperation platform between China and Africa, the FOCAC (Forum on China-Africa Cooperation), or the other one which is much wider, the Belt and Road Initiative, you will realize that the development of technology in China will stimulate the development of technology in those countries. They will also continue to stimulate the economies of these other countries, so again that is good news."
