Terrified residents flee as 10-storey building collapses during powerful Taiwan quake

On April 3rd, a 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Hualien County, Taiwan, revealing the instant collapse of a 10-story building. As the building crumbled, dust filled the air, prompting some residents to hastily seek shelter. Rescue teams swiftly arrived at the scene to handle the aftermath, managing to rescue nine individuals trapped inside the collapsed structure. As of now, the powerful earthquake has claimed four lives and left 97 injured, with local authorities actively engaged in rescue operations.

The 10-story building, identified as the "Uranus Building," was a mixed commercial and residential complex, with shops on the ground floor and residential units above. According to a nearby tea shop owner, fire trucks and ambulances rushed to the scene for rescue efforts, and he witnessed several individuals being rescued one after another.
