In the early hours of April 3rd, a self-igniting heavy-duty truck blared its horn as it approached the Guilin Rongjiang Toll Station on the Quannan Expressway in southern China. In a critical moment, several toll booth workers sprang into action, extinguishing the flames and safeguarding cargo worth millions of yuan.

According to Mr. Wang, the driver of the truck, he noticed thick smoke emanating from the rear of the vehicle when it was about 2 kilometers away from the toll station. Upon investigation, he discovered that the tires were glowing red and catching fire. Mr. Wang promptly boarded the truck, sounding the horn while driving towards the Rongjiang Toll Station.

At the toll station, staff members also noticed the abnormal situation. A toll collector rushed to open the toll gate, allowing the truck to pass through. Once the truck reached an open area, several toll booth workers armed with fire extinguishers rushed to the scene and sprayed the fire. After the flames were extinguished, they connected a water hose to cool down the truck's tires. Eight minutes later, firefighters arrived and thoroughly cooled down the truck. Ultimately, cargo worth over one million yuan onboard the truck was preserved.

On April 6th, after delivering the cargo to Shandong, Mr. Wang, the truck driver, sent a banner to the Guilin Rongjiang Toll Station to express his gratitude.

Relevant staff at the Guilin Rongjiang Toll Station stated that due to regular fire drills, toll booth workers were well-coordinated on the day of the incident. They humbly believed that they had simply done what was expected of them.
