STORYLINE:

At the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce pavilion, Marco Russo, CEO of Italian jewelry brand Russo Cammei, was busy receiving customers and negotiating deals.

Hailing from Naples, Italy, Marco represents the fourth generation of a family legacy dedicated to crafting artisanal handmade jewelry for over a century.

This marks Marco's third voyage to the China International Consumer Products Expo in south China's island province of Hainan.

Armed with over 300 pieces of jewelry, including some new collections first shown to Chinese consumers, Marco is fueled by a grand ambition to further penetrate the vast Chinese market.

"Ni Hao (Hello)! I'm at the Hainan expo 2024, and it's a great pleasure for me to be here. This is the third time that we have participated in the Hainan expo. And we are sure that we can have a very great business during this expo. The Chinese market has very great potential, of course, because there are too many Chinese people. They love 'made in Italy.' And in the end, maybe for us, for Russo Cammei, for what we sell, it's really important that Chinese people have a great culture in their history. It means that they can understand the value of our creations. For this reason, for us, the potential of the Chinese market is so high."

Marco's optimism is buoyed by China's immense consumer base and their penchant for Italian craftsmanship.

With an established business partner in Shanghai, Marco eagerly anticipates fostering deeper collaboration and forging new partnerships.

"It was very important for us to have the opportunity to have meetings with people in our market, our jewelry market, and also for the consumers just to test if they like or know our creation. So it was a very great experience that we absolutely want to repeat. To my great surprise, the level of the Hainan consumer capacity is so high. In fact, during the last edition, we sold more gold pieces than silver pieces. And we had the opportunity to try to have a business relationship with some companies that we met during the Hainan expo coming from every part of China. We are optimistic because Chinese people love too much the 'made in Italy.' And this year we're organizing with other Italian jewelry companies, (which is) differently from the last year that we were the only one. This is important because we want to promote Italian jewelry in China and especially in Hainan Province."

The fourth China International Consumer Products Expo, which began on Saturday and lasts until April 18, is China's only national-level exhibition featuring consumer products and also the largest consumer expo in the Asia-Pacific region.

The expo is having its biggest year ever, attracting a record number of brands with an indoor exhibition area of 128,000 square meters.
