Scared shoppers fled as an electric scooter, plugged in for charging, suddenly burst into flames in a market in southern China.

The shocking CCTV footage was filmed in Shenzhen City in Guangdong Province on April 11.

The scooter owner, in a quick-thinking response, immediately unplugged the power cord, battling the rising panic. With the presence of mind, he dragged the flaming vehicle to an open area, away from the crowded market stalls, significantly reducing the risk to the public.

As the smoke thickened, several shopkeepers leaped into action, grabbing fire extinguishers and dousing the flames in a display of community bravery.

By the time the firefighters arrived, the fire had been successfully extinguished. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported.

Preliminary investigations by the fire department suggest that the fire was caused by a battery malfunction.
