STORYLINE:

Xiamen Torch Electric Industrial Park (Phase I), also known as the Schneider Electric Xiamen Industrial Park, started construction on Friday in Xiamen, east China's Fujian Province.

After its completion, the park will become this French multinational company's biggest manufacturing facility for medium voltage equipment in the world.

Invested and constructed by Xiamen Torch Group, the park mainly consists of a research and development (R&D) office building and a factory building, with a total construction area of about 110,000 square meters and a total investment of about 1.2 billion yuan (about 169 million U.S. dollars).

"Building this industrial park in Xiamen is a major move that we take to deepen operations in Xiamen area. This park is going to be a very large part of Schneider Electric and we are going to get a major R&D center, manufacturing facility and supply hub to serve the global medium voltage offer on the globe. By the way, In this park, we are going to get the biggest and largest manufacturing facility for medium voltage equipment. This is really showing that Schneider Electric is very optimistic on the Chinese market and Xiamen in particular.
That park is also going to be producing and delivering products not only for the Chinese market, but also for all those overseas customers in some of the regions and countries that are covered by the Belt and Road Initiative, and that will allow us to demonstrate China's smart manufacturing capabilities to the rest of the world."

To be completed in 2025, the park is expected to double its production capacity in the next five years.
