Footage has emerged from China of a troop of monkeys scrapping with the owner in the middle of a street, in what may or may not be some kind of trained performance.

The video, filmed in in Anyang, Henan Province on April 2, initially shows a monkey slapping the man to the ground, prompting him to threaten the animal with a knife.

He then puts the blade down and one of the larger primates picks it up but doesn't hurt the man.

Eventually, the group of monkeys attack him together.

After the man puts the knife down, another monkey picks it up and uses it to threaten the man back.

Finally, all monkeys go to beat the man together.
