Footage of tension escalating within a lion pride over who should get the "lion's share" of a warthog kill.

The video, filmed at Kruger National Park in South Africa, shows the lions fighting over who should get first dibs on the carcass.

Often, the adult males would eat first but, according to the filmer, they were not nearby so the females and cubs began to fight.

There is a hierarchy among the Lion pride that determines the eating order. Males eat first. The females that are involved with the hunt are the next to eat. They will consume some of it at the site of the killing. Experts believe this eating first ritual is to ensure the leadership of the pride. If they don’t then all of them can end up lacking when it comes to getting enough food.
In this case, the Pride Males were not nearby(most probably walking the boundaries of their territory).
The females did the hunt and then some sub-adults tried to intimidate the females by attempting to eat first.
The cubs are often the last to eat and even they have a hierarchy among them. Sometimes males share the food with cubs and females have to wait. When males hunt alone do not share their prey.
