Nervous, Pregnant Cheetah eating an Impala
I found this female Cheetah feeding on an Impala near The Lower Sabie rest camp in Kruger National Park, South Africa.
It was a cloudy day with rays of sunshine popping through the clouds at times.
This pregnant Cheetah was very nervous and kept looking around. This is normal as other animals, such as Lions, Hyenas, Leopards, and even Jackals can drive them from their prey.
What unique is about this sighting, is that she did not drag the kill under a bush or tree for cover but started to feed immediately after killing it.
The gestation period for Cheetahs is between 90 to 95 days.
They can have anything from 1 to 5 cubs, but up to 8.
