Mount Laguna, California (San Diego County) Storm Cloud Time-Lapse
To produce this time-lapse sequence I shot 2177 frames with my Canon 6D on August 3, 2017 between 2:45 PM - 5:56 PM. Location is near the highest point of Pine Creek Road atop Mount Laguna, California.
There was a much more intense storm a couple hours earlier in the day. It dropped over an inch of rain in about 50 minutes. I tried to shoot a time-lapse of it, but just couldn't keep my camera safe from the wind blowing the rain sideways. I started out with the camera rig on the the shade canopy of my camper. Later, I had to relocate the camera to the doorway of the camper. Shortly after that, the wind was blowing water towards my camera and into the trailer. I finally had the close everything up and wait out that storm. Fortunately the storm you see here didn't wreak too much havoc where I was set up. You'll notice a few water drops in portions of the video, though. I had the wipe the lens dry between frames and for some period of time I shielded the camera from the rain by using a dish pan.
I spent two nights shooting epic lightning, sunrises, and sunsets up here.
