A video has emerged from central China of a man trying in vain to rescue his car from deep floodwaters.

In the clip, which was captured in Shiyan, Hubei Province on August 7, the man can be seen swimming around his submerged vehicle to the amazement of onlookers.

The severe flash flooding in the area swept away cars, debris and even a load of watermelons.

Dramatic footage has emerged of deep floodwater swamping the street because of heavy rainstorm in China.

In the video, captured in Shiyan, Hubei Province on August 7, a man only having his head above the water tries to rescue his car submerged in it.

People on the side of the road says 'Come to the side. Do you still want your car? Are you still pulling it?'

While, dozens of watermelons are washed away by floodwater.
