The video, captured this afternoon on Smithdown Road, shows armed officers pointing their guns in the direction of a dark-coloured Audi car amid an apparent stand-off.
In the Snapchat video, the caption reads: "Dude at gunpoint omfg."
The filmer wrote online: "Several officers were shown pointing their weapons at a dark silver car stopped outside the Tavern Company restaurant near the junction with Penny Lane."
According to reports, the incident is still under investigation.
Smithdown Road has since been re-opened to traffic.
