This was a close call on the notorious single-track Chelmsford Army and Navy flyover in the summer of 2017.

A woman was killedback in 2012 after she missed the no-entry sign and crashed into oncoming traffic on the Baddow Bypass

The flyover has been the scene of a number of head-on collisions over the years, the most recent of which (written in 2017) involving a two-car crash which injured three people.

Nine emergency service crews since then have been called, including fire crews who had to cut one of the victims out of her car following the collision.

Two patients were taken to Broomfield Hospital for further care and the driver was treated in hospital with a serious leg injury.

Essex County Council have so far declined to make it two-track on the grounds of costs.
