Dash-cam footage captured an impatient driver mounting a pavement to undertake a series of vehicles and escape traffic in Bolton in the north-west of England.

Footage captured on Friday (April 6) by Lee Muggeridge shows a female driver of a white Nissan, who according to Muggeridge was accompanied by a child in the passenger seat, mounting the pavement and overtaking several vehicles.

The incident took place on Chorley New Road near St. Joseph's Roman Catholic High School at around 3.45pm.

An incident earlier that day on the M61 caused tailbacks on Chorley New Road, according to Muggeridge.

"There were several driveways she drove past very closely and god only knows what may have happened if a small child or anyone would have stepped out from them at that moment," Muggeridge later wrote online.

On the 6/4/2018 I was traveling along the A673 Chorley New Road just outside of St Josephs RC High School towards the Beehive roundabout in heavy traffic at 15:45.

Due to an incident earlier on in the day on the M61 where a lorry had overturned when this white Nissan drove along side vehicles behind me and pulled up short of hitting some barriers at a crossing where i was stopped so as not to obstruct the junction were i might add was a mother and small infant waiting to cross, The junction cleared so I proceeded to continue and the white nissan driven by a young female with her child in the passenger seat pulled up behind me sending hand gestures for a short while untill she then decided to overtake me on the inside mounting the curb and driving along the pavement while overtaking several other vehicles infront of me. There was several driveways she drove past very closely and god only knows what may have happened if a small child or anyone would have stepped out from them at that moment.
