A pilot was forced to make an emergency landing in a light aircraft on a beach in Sidmouth on Saturday after the engine failed.

Neither the pilot or passenger were hurt in the incident on the Devon coast.

The first world war-era plane narrowly missed people on the stony beach.

"The plane aimed for the cliffs, passed behind the trees and at the last moment made a perfect emergency landing on the stone pebble beach - kudos to the pilot," said the filmer of a video of the landing.
