A helicopter delivering aid made a forced landing in floods in India.

Four Indian Air Force personnel were rescued from the floodwaters after landing in Naya Gaon, Bihar, on October 2.

Nearby residents helped the crew out of the aircraft.

Footage shows villagers removing the relief goods from the submerged vehicle.

Pratyaya Amrit, the Principal Secretary of the Disaster Management Department, said: 'A major accident was averted because of the pilot's presence of mind. The engine failed, and the pilot ensured that the helicopter landed in shallow water with no people around.

'The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) began rescue operations as soon as the crash was reported. The initial rescue was done by local residents,' he added.

The helicopter was an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv, used by the Indian Air Force, Army, and Navy. The fleet of these helicopters was recently grounded twice due to technical concerns over certain components.
