Perseid Meteor Shower

Buy video

Perseid Meteors flyby overnight on August 4th (2014). The first 3 seconds are of a still image showing a bright Perseid Meteor along with the International Space Station (bright streak upper left) and ATV-5 (dimmer streak below meteor). ATV-5 is the European Space Agencies (ESA) final supply ship to the ISS. ATV-5 carries 7 tons of food, water, and other supplies. After the 3 seconds are time lapses of stars and meteors overnight. The Perseid Meteor Shower peaks August 11-13th but the full moon will interfere with only the brightest meteors being visible. Between now and Saturday will be the best viewing for the meteor shower as there will be some time after moonset and before sunrise where the moon will not interfere.
