A former police officer has signed up to volunteer with a fire service -- armed with a £50,000 remote control "tank" to help tackle blazes.

Cameron MacRae, 52, uses his Robocut mower to cut down trees, bushes, and thick undergrowth, as well as tackling wildfires.

Before retiring in 2015, after spending 27 years serving communities as a police officer, Cameron trained new recruits in high-speed pursuit driving.

But now the businessman from the Isle of Skye uses a one-and-a-half tonne unmanned "tank" to help the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
