Large cobra regurgitates another cobra
This was the rare moment a cobra was caught on camera regurgitating another cobra,
Harish Chandra Parida, a resident of Satyabadi in Puri district, Odisha, India, was shocked to find a big cobra in his kitchen on September 27.
The 5-feet long cobra had taken refuge under a rice drum in the kitchen.
A Snake Helpline volunteer Susant Behera responded to the distress call and rescued the cobra.
But to Susant's surprise, the cobra started moving to regurgitate something. First, the tail, and slowly the full body of the smaller snake came out.
Subhendu Mallik, General Secretary of Snake helpline, said: "When they sense danger, snakes regurgitate their meal to make a quick getaway. However, a cobra vomiting another cobra is surely a rare phenomenon."
Indian spectacled cobras, like many snakes, are cannibals.
