This is the emotional moment an eight-year-old boy opened a present his grandmother bought for him shortly before she died.

The video shows the boy's mother handing him the present and explaining that his late grandmother bought it for him.

He opens the gift to reveal a Thomas the Tank Engine piggy bank and is so moved that he clutches to his chest and then burst into tears.

"After my grandma passed we were all heartbroken and still are," the boy's sister said.

"As we were going through her apartment, we found the (piggy) bank and broke down since my brother's birthday wasn't for another two months," she added

"My mother decided we should give him the bank at our home. His reaction had hit a hard spot for all of us since he was so close to my grandmother," she added.

My grandma had passed away on September 7th 2018. She had bought my brother a Thomas the train piggy bank in the summer and planned on putting 8$ in pennies in it for his 8th birthday. After my grandma passed we were all heartbroken and still are. As we were going through her apartment we found the bank and broke down since my brothers birthday wasn't for another 2 months. As his birthday approached my mom got the 8$ in pennies and gave it to him the day after his birthday , November 2nd. My mother Theresa then decided we should give him (Kevin jr) the bank at our home. His reaction had hit a hard spot for all of us since he was so close to my grandmother.
