Two men in Indonesia engage in a traditional whip fight to call on the gods for rain. The fighters use rattan sticks, in this slow-paced and elegant battle which nonetheless causes significant injuries to the fighters. The more injured a participant, the greater the belief that rain will come.
The men show little emotion as they beat one another. Onlookers watch on in awe, as traditional instrumentalists play music.
