"Pujan Kasanga" is a tribal ritual tradition of Tengger in Probolinggo, East Java, which is held every "panglong kasanga" every month "Kasanga" according to the Tengger Java calendar.
The "pujan kasanga" traditional rituals are routinely carried out by Tengger tribes in four districts in East Java, namely Probolinggo, Pasuruan, Lumajang, and Malang.
The purpose of Pujan Kasanga Tengger's traditional rituals is as an effort to establish a harmonious relationship between man and God and the universe, as part of a series of gratitude for the gifts and favors given in the form of health, safety, abundant food and the fertility of the universe wisely .
The traditional ritual process is very thick with the traditions and culture of the Tengger tribe. worship and gratitude were expressed by reading Tengger's Javanese prayer by including some of the produce.
The strength of the Tengger tribe in maintaining their traditions, can be seen from the traditional clothes used during the traditional "pujan kasanga" ritual process. from pants and black clothes, sarong Tengger tribe, to headbands or "udeng". even traditional rituals are also accompanied by traditional "gamelan" music.
Even this tradition and culture is always preserved by being taught to children and adolescents so that it is not extinct eroded in the era.
This "pujan kasanga" traditional ritual is closed by a procession around the village by lighting dozens of torches, which are used as a symbol of unlimited harmony and togetherness.
