British Airways has bid farewell to the final 767 aircraft still in passenger service.

Two BA aircraft touched down at the Ministry Of Defence air base in St. Athan in South Wales yesterday (November 26) for the final time.

The jet was regularly used for short-haul journeys and travelled to the likes of Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Madrid, Edinburgh and Athens.

According to online reports, the fleet of 767s has completed over 425,000 commercial flights with BA but is now being phased out to make way for single-aisle jets made by Airbus for shorter journeys.

The Boeing 787 is expected to be used for long-haul flights.

The fate of the last two Boeing 767s in British Airways' fleet was decided today as both G-BZHA and G-BZHB arrived at MOD St Athan (EGDX) from London Heathrow (LHR/EGLL) for scrapping.

Today (26th November 2018) marks the end of an era for the workhorse of the British Airways fleet - the Boeing 767-300, as the last two bid farewell to their commercial flying days and arrived at the scrapyard. Not only was it the very last flight for both these aircraft, but too the captain of the first 767 to land - best wishes in your retirement. Congratulations to BA and Boeing on the success of the wonderful aircraft, and good luck to the crews on their next adventures.

The first aircraft to land, G-BZHA as BAW767A (Speedbird 767A) was at around 11:30am, followed by G-BZHB as BAW767B (Speedbird 767B) later in the afternoon at around 2:45pm. Both made their last landing a graceful one, coming to a quick stop on runway 25 after using up very little runway. Soon after they vacated the runway, taxying past other BA 767's already at the scrapyard. Moments later they were all parked up, shutting down those Rolls Royce RB211's for the last time.
