Frigate Birds Barbuda
Barbuda is one of the few places in the world where you can see Frigate Birds. They can fly above a hurricane and left Barbuda after Hurricane Irma in Sept 2017 when the mangrove was destroyed. Now they have returned in great numbers. The males puff up their red chests and make a clicking sound to attract the females. This video was taken in February 2019 on a visit to Barbuda. Our guide’s name is Guinness and only authorised Barbudans can take you on a boat trip to the bird sanctuary.
