A diver discovered a huge school of hammerhead sharks swimming in a group together while waiting for their evening hunt at Isla Wolf in the Galapagos.

The footage, filmed on March 28, shows dozens of hammerheads seemingly swimming in place as they pass through the current.

A scar can be seen on one of the female's heads, likely from mating.

The filmer, Todd Kortte, commented: "The current was moving at an extreme fast pace. So much that the Hammerhead sharks appear to be swimming in place."

You can see a scar on some of the Hammerhead Sharks near the head. These are females and the scars are from mating.

Capturing a shot like this in the intense currents is a very challenging task. The currents are throwing you around. You have to hold onto the rocky reef for stability. Todd was bit by an Eel while filming this shot when trying to secure a spot on the reef. With a bleeding hand, in shark infested waters, in currents that push the limits of most advanced experienced divers, Todd was able to capture this incredible display of nature.

There is an increase problem of shark fining by Chinese fishermen in the Galapagos. One week later these sharks were missing. We do not know what happened to them or where they are.
