Horse-drawn traveller caravans caused a tailback of around six miles in England's Cumbria on Wednesday (June 5) as people gathered for the annual Appleby Horse Fair, one of the biggest of its kind in the world.

On Wednesday, travellers with traditional horse-drawn caravans are allowed to move went to the festival site, before the rest move onto the festival grounds tomorrow.

Footage shows several traditional vehicles trundling along the A66 near Appleby-in-Westmoreland on their way to the annual horse festival in the area.

A long queue of cars, lorries and vans trails behind the caravans slowing them down to walking speed.

Up to 10,000 travellers flock to the small town of Appleby for the fair.

The main purpose of the event is for buying and selling horses.
