A car passenger spotted several chickens clinging onto the side of a truck as the driver knowingly kept speeding down Western Ring Road in Melbourne.

According to the filmer, five of the chickens were still alive and "two were dead and one was taking its last breaths," after the container holding the chickens had fallen out after hitting a bump on June 17.

The filmer rolled down his window to notify the truck driver and got an alarmingly nonchalant reply saying, "I already know, I can't get up there, there's nothing I can do," before driving off.

According to a local news report, the filmer said another truck tried to get the driver's attention but received the same casual response.

We were traveling to uni Monday morning, down the western ringroad Melbourne. When a truck of chooks drove past. As we passed we realised that the top container holding chickens in it had fallen out leaving 5 chickens hanging on for dear life in between the trailer, whilst 2 were dead and one taking its last breaths. We drive up to the driver and told him about the chickens, he causally replied with, I already know, nothing I can do I can climb up there and put them back in. And drove off
